This was done in order to make the supplies attribute self-explanatory, with clear symbols that make it more obvious the quality of that particular supply. The appearance of Gold Boxes was changed to make it look somewhat more modern, and more easily draw attention to it. A Gold Box after all, should indeed resemble something valuable.
