suspected cheating

DIAF 2 years ago updated 1 year ago 7

I have made an observation since the big tanki overhaul last year when the matchmaking process was installed. It didn't happen immediately, but took some time before players found a way to use that system to their advantage. I suspect that certain players join battles with two accounts simultaneously. They allow a minute or two of game play to occur then decide which team they will focus on winning. That's when I have noticed "dead" tanks. They are there but they don't play. And the opposing team is suddenly much better. Another clue occurs when the game is ended: the winning team all immediately leave the field. It takes a second or two before they remove their "dead" tanks from the losing team. Obviously, this is ruining the game for anyone not involved in this coordinated cheating. I can't /vote anyone because there's no way to know exactly which players are doing it. A search of tanki forums using the search team "cheating" brought me no results. I hope tanki forum mods aren't burying any suspected cheating threads in an attempt to make their game seem truly unbiased... ?

And I truly hope game mods are looking into this, because unfair games will simply drive players away. Any responses at all will be appreciated.

Thank you.

You can report suspected violators by using the in-game command for a battle moderator to come and take the appropriate action.

Did you read what I posted?  If I'm playing against a team of 10, how do I know which one(s) are logging in to multiple accounts?  It is impossible.  Why aren't mods looking at battles where one team is blowing out the other, and the losing team has tanks that do nothing?  Or are you powerless?

Tanks being afk is considered as being against your team which is against the rules. If you find afk users in the battle or if they are doing anything which goes against the team, report them using the report option in the game. As for having players joining with two accounts at the same time, there is no way you can prove it.

This was taken with a different account- nearly my entire team (blue) was sitting there doing nothing, while red team was killing and bringing flags in at will.  Obviously they are doing something!  Do you think a mod will come running if I report AFK users?  I've reported hackers in the past and they have skated away without penalty.  How many people will quit tanki because we cant get a fair game?  And why is the onus on the player to PROVE that cheating exists?  Why aren't mods doing that?

Consider the shortened length of games- a decent amount of time has run off before a player has figured out that the cheating has begun.  By the time a suspected player is reported and the mods get around to looking in on it, gameplay has likely ended.

Of course, you could cross-reference the names I just submitted and see if any have the same email.  And encourage other players to do the same.  But that's just my thought and I'm not a mod so I have no business doing your job for you.  Thanks for your help.

I suspect you stopped responding to this thread because you were confronted with an uncomfortable truth: players are actively cheating at tanki.  So how about this: if you trust that your team-making algorithm is doing what it is supposed to do, why not try a simple test?  Collect the final scores of every battle for a period of time, or maybe a few different periods of time.  Look at those final scores.  Are they lopsided?  I predict you will find that most of them are.  Which reveals that there certainly is a problem.  So either your algorithm is crap, or players are cheating.  Either way, tanki has a BIG problem.  The fact that I can't get a response to my concerns speaks volumes.  You are obviously willing to put your collective heads in the sand on this issue because actually doing something about it would require a very dangerous admission on your part.  I am sorry that you are all such cowards.  This is my final post on the subject, but rest assured it is NOT RESOLVED.
