micro-upgrading protection module or buy

as you know protection module system has been changed several times. anyway due to this changes, now I have upgraded protection against thunder (grizzly M2 7/10).

I am legend7 and  I want to ask: will i get M3 by upgrading the 3 remaining steps or i must buy M3 directly?

i dont want my crystals to be wasted. thanks
