how do you delete people in your friends list

i have alot of friends and some of them are not as nice as i thought they were so i want to delete them please help

Hover over their name, and a small "x" should appear on the left side of the bar their name is located on.

hey there was no "X" on the left hand side, so can u give me an updated version of how to do it?
